Cruzan Rum’s New Bottle Design
As promised with the help of Qorvis Communications, the new bottling design for Cruzan Rum is here. Beam Global Spirits & Wine, Inc., part of Fortune Brands, Inc., announced yesterday the addition of Cruzan Rum to the Beam Global family of spirits. As part of the union, a new logo and sleek bottle design reflecting the Cruzan craftsmanship, premium quality and rich family tradition was initiated. New beginnings bring about some change, but some things remain ever present.
Cruzan Rum’s commitment to quality through eight generations of Nelthropp family heritage and time-honored tradition will continue. While Cruzan began with pot stills, today Cruzan is created using a five-column distillation process to remove impurities leaving the clean, mellow, full-bodied flavor that gives Cruzan its distinct profile. One ingredient that contributes to this flavor: The molasses that goes into Cruzan Rum has a slight licorice taste with heavy sweetness.
Cruzan Light Rum – Two Years
Aged in American oak casks. After aging the light rum goes through a closely monitored filtration process to reduce color as well as oak and vanilla character. This process brings out full-bodied, smooth and delicate taste.
Cruzan Aged Rum – Two Years
Smooth, full bodied and aromatic taste. Certificate of age is determined by the youngest drop in the bottle. Two year is a blend of rums aged two to four years to create a perfect result every time.

As a former marketing man, I am always suspect of design changes. Risky, and poof! There goes your history and tradtion. Like new and improved Brillo pads.
It’s also a shame that Cruzan has decided to favor cheaper, younger rums at the expense of say, the brilliant Cruzan Estate Diamond (5 years).

I really don’t like those bottle designs. Makes the rum look like a Bacardi rip-off.

Change is sometimes a good thing and sometimes not. Time will tell.

THIS NEW DESIGN REALLY ——(edited)! Plain and simple. It takes away from the true essence of cruzan rum. Yea the rum is still that same amazing quality, but why sacrifice the tradition of the bottle and label. I think it was a overall bad decision…(edited)!
Intoxicologist Note: I think it important that people are allowed to express their opinion about the products and even the way the products are changed and marketed. Most of this comment was in good taste. However, I did take out portions that were not. Please take into consideration all comments are moderated and while comments do not have to conform to other’s opinions, they do need to use quality language. Thank you for taking the time to read and comment here.

The original design of the Cruzan single barrel Estates Rum bottle was wonderful. Seemed to say you were getting special. I perfer the old bottle to the new design.

Terrible… simply terrible. Connotes Baccardi, which is only good for washing tires. Gimme a label that looks like its been around since pirates were parked in port.
